Huge congratulations to Marcelo Staricoff, who we are proud to say has worked with many VNET schools, on the publication of his book, The Joy of Not Knowing!
The Joy of Not Knowing is based on Marcelo’s many years of experience in schools and brings together, as a whole-school framework, the strategies that he has found to have the greatest impact on practitioner’s professional fulfilment and on children’s life chances, love of learning, intrinsic motivation and enthusiasm for wanting to know.
According to Amazon, “The book takes every aspect of the curriculum and school life and transforms it into a personalised, meaningful and enjoyable experience for all. It offers readers an innovative, theoretical and practical guide to establish a values-based, enquiry-led and challenge-rich learning to learn approach to teaching and learning and to school leadership.”
Available from all good bookstores now! Congratulations Marcelo.
Take a moment to think about the children in your class or school. Which children still do not have good word recognition? Which of the barriers that I have outlined so far do you think might be holding them back?
Whilst for some children, working with a teacher 1:1 might improve reading accuracy and fluency, this isn’t always possible; therefore, often we arrange children into groups for reading practice.
This course will ensure that Teaching Assistants are equipped with the knowledge, skills and strategies which are required to support Quality First Teaching and enable pupils to get back on track.
