Peer Review is a strategy for organisational and systemic improvement. The VNET Peer-Review approach makes this a priority and creates opportunities to develop both intellectual and social capital. It leverages the strengths we have in the network and provides great personal development and CPD opportunities for a variety of staff.
Peer Review is free for VNET member schools
How does it work?
Whichever peer review group colleagues are joining, they will attend a half-day session to set out protocols and consider an effective review framework and activities. The VNET methodology of using an agreed framework supports cohorts in having a robust approach to their work which can then be shared as a credible external viewpoint.
Following the session, the schools will work in triads or tetrads to conduct reviews in each other’s schools with a feedback session to the whole group on completion.
Schools wanting to take part need to be:
Practised in self-evaluation and have well-developed self-evaluation frameworks and processes
Prepared to share appropriate school documentation to support the process
Committed to supporting each of the schools in their triad
Prepared to release staff for at least half a day for training and 3 days to complete reviews.
Programme for half day training
By the end of the training sessions we can confirm groups and dates and get the process started.
Please note: you must attend the half day training session to join a peer review cohort.

Advantages:
- By exchanging knowledge and experience in areas such as teaching, learning, leadership, governance, and school improvement, schools are strengthening their collective capacity.
- Through deeper collaboration, schools are forming networks that allow for richer dialogue and a broader range of perspectives to be heard.
- Trust between professionals is increasingly seen as essential for meaningful peer learning and constructive challenge.
- Rather than relying solely on external judgments, schools are now reclaiming the process of self-evaluation, with their work being recognised and affirmed by respected peers. Read more: beyondofsted.org.uk/reports/
