This professional development session will examine the multifaceted nature of writing and the neurological processes that underpin it. It will be broken into 3 parts: the whole school, the classroom, and the pupil.
Participants will consider how a whole-school approach can ensure coherence and breadth in writing curriculum coverage, supporting progression across developmental stages. In the classroom, we will explore a teaching and learning sequence for both fiction and non-fiction.The session will finalise with a skills progression that considers the pupil’s current writing level and how to move them forward.
