Writing Moderation – for Improvement
In 26/27 VNET will be running moderation for EYFS, Years 1–3 and Years 4–6.
These sessions for class teachers are designed to make sure that moderation is not just about judgement, but about improving outcomes for pupils through responsive teaching and effective curriculum design.
High-quality writing moderation strengthens both the teaching and assessment of writing. By working collaboratively, teachers can build confidence, develop consistency, and ensure that assessment directly informs practice.
Training and Moderation Sessions
Each session will include a short CPD input as well as structured moderation and professional dialogue. The CPD will draw on best practice from the DfE Writing Framework and explore effective curriculum sequencing to support progression in writing.
Each group will meet twice. In Session 2, participants will evaluate the impact of suggested next steps from Session 1 on improvements in pupils’ writing.
We have planned sessions in central, East and West locations. Please note, booking session 1 will automatically book you into session 2 which may be in a different location.
These sessions are free to VNET members! Please book below.
Further details will be shared with participating schools. We will be hosting these sessions in various locations around Norfolk, please select the relevant option and your preferred location below.
