Oracy – the ability to communicate effectively through speaking and listening – is foundational to academic success, personal growth and civic engagement.
Inspired by the 2024 Oracy Education Commission Report, ‘We Need to Talk’, this course advocates for making oracy an essential element of the UK curriculum alongside reading, writing, and arithmetic. Participants will explore practical strategies for embedding oracy across key stages, understand its role in holistic child development and gain tools to foster equitable access to communication skills for all pupils.
Through this course educators will be equipped to champion oracy in their schools, investing in early language development and promoting spoken language skills across all subjects and activities.
