This session will explore what self-regulation is with reference to Polyvagal Theory and the Window of Tolerance. We will discuss why this curriculum is necessary and how to implement it, specifically addressing why many children struggle with zones of regulation as it requires pupils to self-regulate, understand emotional states and associate colours with these. The session offers practical activities and interventions focused on Interoception and Neuroception for those not yet ready for self-reflection, while also providing strategies for pupils capable of supporting others. The training concludes with a practical intervention using either sand or playdough – please make sure you have some to hand!
