Engagement Model Training

Monday, September 22, 2025 @ 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm

Join us for an introduction to the engagement model, training that can be adapted to both special and mainstream schools. This session is led by Lucy Kent, an engagement model tutor who has worked with SENCOs and SEND practitioners to support the delivery of this model. The training will take your school through the practice, assessment and moderation of engagement with real examples and case study pupils.

Training objectives
  • To develop an understanding of the engagement model – this is a statutory assessment tool and directed towards pupils who are P1 – P4. However this tool is useful for a wide variation of need
  • The training will provide the audience with realistic examples that can act as a “takeaway” for their classrooms, to include assessment and planning
  • Clear explanations of the model through the 5 areas of Engagement.
Learning outcomes
  • To gain knowledge and understanding of the engagement model
  • To leave the training with a clear overview of how to use this assessment model with their complex learners.
Target audience: SENCOs, Teachers and SLT’s

This training is led by SEND specialist Lucy Kent. She has 20 years of experience working within special needs schools. She currently works as a Senior teacher in a Special school, DSL, head of department for ASC and Sensory and is the ECF SEND trainer for the UEA.
