The EYFS Professional Community is a supportive network which will provide time and space to explore research and innovation in the Early Years. Participants will engage with professional reading and gain insight into the National picture in the subject.
During each session agenda items will combine items requested from community members as well as national updates.
Evidence-based practice and pedagogy will underpin the thinking of every session. Time is made to reflect on recommended best practice. Working within a community of supportive colleagues, these discussions ensure maximum impact on practice back in school.
The sessions will be designed to combine the element of reflection and sharing of best practice with the opportunity to network with like-minded colleagues. Sessions will seek to support both new and experienced subject leaders/subject co-ordinators in all settings. It will provide access to practical tools and resources which can be used in school.
The EYFS Professional Community for 2025-26 will focus on three key areas:
DfE Writing Framework & SEND in Early Years The community will explore the implications of the Department for Education’s Writing Framework for early writing practice in the Early Years, while developing strategies for managing SEND in mainstream settings with limited support, ensuring all children have a strong foundation for future development.
Action Planning, Monitoring and Child-Centred Practice Members will engage in effective action planning for EYFS improvement, alongside developing robust monitoring and evaluation systems. The community will focus on putting the child at the centre of Understanding the World and involving parents in provision and support.
Outdoor Provision & Strategic Leadership Focus will be placed on developing high-quality outdoor provision through strategic leadership and quality enhancement, ensuring outdoor learning environments are purposeful and support children’s development across all areas.
This year the termly community sessions will all be held in person at Roundwood, Taverham, by VNET EYFS Associate Sue Brockhouse and EYFS Practitioner and Consultant Gemma Shadid.
Two places per school or federation on each Professional Community are included in your VNET Membership. Please note you must book a ticket for each delegate below.
