Come along and meet Dina and Ayman. They will share some aspects of their cultural heritage and reflect on their experiences of seeking sanctuary. Through stories and conversation, your pupils will build understanding and empathy while we celebrate our diverse communities and multicultural country.
Dina is an author of books for children and adults, whose writing often draws on her own experiences of seeking sanctuary.
Ayman is a Syrian actor, filmmaker and creative who arrived in the UK hidden inside a suitcase.
This event was designed for pupils aged 7-9 but is also suitable for older children.
A Day of Welcome is an annual school event that aims to build a culture of welcome and understanding for people seeking sanctuary. It’s designed to support teachers in kickstarting Refugee Week (15-21 June) by providing free live events, resources and activities for pupils of all ages.
By registering to take part in this event, you are participating in A Day of Welcome. VNET will share your contact details with the team at A Day of Welcome who will be in touch with further resources and ideas that you could use as a complement to the event and to mark A Day of Welcome and Refugee Week.
