Professional Book Club
Monday, June 19, 2023 @ 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm
This book club is open to everyone in VNET member schools!
Meeting termly, we take a hot publication and provide our members with a forum to discuss the research, the theory and the suggestions for implementation.
It is a great way to look at education research and theory and think about how they might translate into practice in our schools.
The club will be led by VNET Associates – book suggestions welcome! If you have read a brilliant book, please send your recommendation to Emma Adcock. (emma.adcock@vnetcic.com)
On Monday 7th November 2022 at 4:00 pm, we will be discussing Alex Quigley’s “Closing the Writing Gap’. Alex will be joining us for a Q&A for 15 minutes at the end of the session!
This book explains seven critical steps to improve children’s writing. Though seemingly ‘natural’, writing proves devilishly difficult for far too many school pupils and closing this gap can have a lasting impact on their academic and life success.
Alex Quigley promises that this book will train teachers to be an expert in how pupils learn to write, from the big picture of planning, editing and revising your writing, to the vital importance of grammar and spelling with accuracy.
If you are interested in joining Emma on 7th November @4:00, all you have to do is to have read the book and be ready to discuss your thoughts on it.
On Monday 27th February at 4:00 pm, we will be discussing ‘Love to Teach’ by Kate Jones
