Preparing for a PEX: A Headteacher’s Perspective
Tuesday, March 14, 2023 @ 10:00 am - 11:30 am
The prospect of a PEX is never taken lightly by a headteacher.
Deciding when to PEX, understanding of the legislation and the subsequent gathering of evidence can be challenging for both new and experienced headteachers.
The session will cover the latest policy and legislation from the DfE (September 2022), supporting headteachers in making those difficult decisions when it comes to permanent exclusions, as well as sharing the experience of the process with participants who have not yet had to permanently exclude a pupil.
The course is led by Ruth McGlone, ex- headteacher with extensive leadership experience.
Training Objectives: To have a clear understanding of the pathway and underpinning policies and procedures to be able to deal with Permanent Exclusions.
Learning Outcomes: Participants will have the confidence to deal with suspensions and exclusions, by ensuring they have a robust policy and procedures in place and a strategy and a timeline for the use of these.
