Motivation for Learning with Peps Mccrea
Monday, November 14, 2022 @ 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm
This session, led by Peps Mccrea, will explore what research tells us about what motivation for learning is, and how we can boost it in our classrooms and schools.
Put simply – motivation matters! When pupils are motivated, they pay more attention, put in more effort, persist for longer, and are able to work more independently. When motivation strategies are combined with effective curriculum design and instruction, your pupils will learn more, remember more and will be able to do more.
When pupils lack motivation, they get distracted easily, do the bare minimum, require constant cajoling to stay on task, and retain little of what they learn. Motivation affects the learning and life chances of our pupils. Therefore, it is something that we should all be striving to influence.
There are various ways we can influence pupil attention and effort. In this session, Peps Mccrea will stitch together the best available evidence from multiple fields and he will explore the most powerful approaches to ensure that both attention and effort is boosted in your classrooms.
