Leadership Forum 1 – Termly update with Rae Snape, author of ‘The Headteacher’s Handbook’
Wednesday, September 22, 2021 @ 11:00 am - Thursday, September 23, 2021 @ 12:30 am
For the first leadership update of the new academic year we are delighted to be joined by Rae Snape. Rae is the author of the ‘The Headteacher’s Handbook’, a headteacher with over 14 years experience, an NLE and headteacher of Milton Road Primary School in Cambridge.
Rae will bring us her thoughts on returning to school after another year of the pandemic. She will reflect on the last year of leading a school through a pandemic, share her hopes and aspirations for the new academic year and look at how to forge ahead with your school for the benefit of all the children, the staff and the wider community.
Based on her book she will also consider at the start of another academic year, how do headteachers prepare for the year ahead? What do they do in that first term? How do Headteachers communicate their vision and manage the operational aspects of the work. How do Heads manage all that is asked of them, stay the course and keep smiling?
Following the presentation, there will be a Q&A session. Despite having been a Headteacher for 15 years, Rae does not think she has all of the answers, so she hopes that this will be an opportunity to connect and learn with and from each other.
Free to members.
This session is for VNET Members only.

About Rae Snape
Rae has been a head teacher since 2007, formerly at The Spinney Primary School, Cambridge and at Milton Road Primary School since January 2020. Rae describes being a headteacher as the best job in the world! Interested in policy and passionate (some might say obsessed) about education, Rae was a member of the Primary Headteachers’ Reference Group at the Department of Education for 9 years. Rae is a National Leader of Education, a co-founder of the Cambridgeshire Festival of Education and of MyCambridge Cultural Education Partnership. Rae is the first ever Ambassador for Smiley Education Talks. With an ambition to #NetworkTheNetworks Rae has recently joined the Foundation for Education Development as a member of the executive team. Rae has contributed to several books on education and has written “The Headteacher’s Handbook” for Bloomsbury which will be published on 5th August 2021. Having caught the writing bug, Rae is now working on her second book for Bloomsbury called the Curriculum Compendium.
