Curriculum Update 2 – SEND
Wednesday, November 17, 2021 @ 10:00 am - 11:30 am
These half-termly curriculum updates are designed to keep senior leaders and subject leads up to date with current curriculum developments.
This session, led by our Associate, Fyfe Johnston, will look at the internal debate that all leaders have when it comes to those young people that struggle to achieve. It will highlight the debate between time in class for pupils with SEND, and time spent outside of the classroom getting more specialised support.
We will discuss how progress can be captured and what a ‘broad and balanced’ curriculum can look like for those pupils with SEND or for those on the school’s SEN register.
We will also discuss the changing nature of provision for pupils with SEND and what it could mean for school budgets and improvement plans moving forwards. We will look at the growth of demand for places in specialist provision and focus on what decisions leaders need to take to support pupils during transitions between provisions.
PLEASE NOTE: this session had previously been advertised on our calendar as an OFSTED Science update but they were unable to provide a speaker. Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience caused.
