Book Look – How Effective is your Curriculum?

Tuesday, September 13, 2022 @ 4:00 pm - 5:30 pm

How effective is your curriculum? How can you make sure you evidence that pupils Remember More and Do More and therefore making progress as described in the Ofsted Education Inspection Framework?

Through careful and clear monitoring by using both pupil voice and book looks together, leaders can use their monitoring time smartly to find this out.  Talking to your pupils will clarify if they are making progress through remembering more and doing more; and if your curriculum model and teaching and assessment are having an impact.

This session will show that careful planning and undertaking of this type of monitoring can help leaders evaluate their curriculum intent and implementation which in turn will support good outcomes.

Objectives:

  • To understand the cognitive research that underpins children’s retention and retrieval.
  • To understand the methodology of Book Looks to support the evaluation of the impact of the curriculum.

The course is led by Emma Adcock and Ruth McGlone, both ex-headteachers with extensive leadership experience.

This session is for VNET members only.
