Appropriate Support for Accessing the Curriculum for SEMH
Tuesday, June 27, 2023 @ 4:00 pm - 5:30 pm
Virtual Event
During this session we will look firstly at the parameters of curriculum development in relation to SEND: what is required and what freedoms schools have. We will explore why it’s important that a school’s curriculum offer is clear and consistently delivered.
We will then go on to think about what those curriculum decisions may mean for pupils with SEMH or with a combination of needs. We will take a pragmatic approach to what might be meant by reasonable adjustments for accessibility. We will finish by bringing together how a key range of school’s policies (SEND/ Behaviour/ attendance and accessibility) can work together to provide a framework within which all children can flourish.
Training Objectives
- To provoke thought and practical ideas for accessibility.
Learning Outcomes
- An improved understanding of the significance of policy alignment and of the curriculum modelling to maximise accessibility for all pupils.
